2012 is the 140th anniversary of the creation of the Bureau of Internal Revenue. Its establishment by law was one of the hallmarks of financing the Union's war effort. The Confederacy took a different approach to financing their troops. This symposium-style course takes a serious look at the philatelic artifacts that remain of these two methods of raising the funds for the war.
Today's outstanding revenue collectors will share their insights of decades of collecting these artifacts. Symposium contributors are Mike Morrissey, Alan Hicks, Bob Hohertz, and Terry Hines.
